Jason Plato issues statement on team departure: “Stunned and unsettled”

Jason Plato has issued his first public statement since it was confirmed that he will no longer be involved in the team formerly known as Plato Racing, which entered administration earlier this week.

The two-time BTCC champion’s statement was read out at the start of the ITV broadcast at Donington Park today (August 23).

“Earlier this week, I learned that my involvement with the company and the racing operation that I created back in July 2025 had been terminated.

“I was removed from my positions as CEO, Director and Team Principal without warning, explanation or discussion. The decision has left me stunned and unsettled.

“My backing for the team remains absolute, even though I am no longer involved and will not be present at Donington Park this weekend. I hope the drivers and team personnel enjoy a successful race weekend.”

Plato was an integral part of the BTCC’s newest team forming this year, with the squad bringing two brand-new Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloon cars to grid for Dan Rowbottom and Adam Morgan to drive.

Despite a frustrating first half of the campaign, the team has hit form in recent weeks with Rowbottom claiming the team’s first podium at Thruxton, before Morgan then picked up its maiden win at Knockhill.
