Adam Morgan hails best-ever BTCC weekend

Adam Morgan has hailed his weekend performance at Donington Park GP as one of the best of his British Touring Car Championship career to-date after he clinched pole position on Saturday and then tallied two wins on Sunday.

Despite the ongoing situation that is playing out at the CPRL squad behind-the-scenes, Morgan maintained his front-running form from Knockhill, where he scored the team’s first-ever victory in the series.

The Mercedes driver swept aside the opposition on Saturday to triumph in the Race To Pole and he then converted that into a commanding lights-to-flag victory in race one on the medium tyre.

Ninth place would be the Lancashire racers reward on the hard tyre and with the least TOCA Turbo Boost in race two, however he soon bounced back as he reigned supreme in the reverse grid finale after starting in second.

Those results have meant that not only has Morgan been the top points scorer two weekend’s in a row, but he has also gone from eighth to fourth in the standings.

“I’ve been competing in touring cars for something like 15 years and I don’t think I’ve ever had a weekend as good as that,” said Morgan. “We’re riding a wave of momentum at the moment, and when things go well in this sport, they tend to do so for a while.

“A big thank you has to go to everyone at the team because they’ve given me an incredible car. I’ve never driven a touring car that handles as well as that. The rotation, traction and braking of the thing is incredible. We’ve really got the car in that operating window that you hear us all talking about.

“We’ve capitalised on coming into the past two meetings with the maximum allocation of TOCA Turbo Boost but that will slightly change going to Croft as we’ll have less to use. We’ll go there and see what we can do.”
