Daryl De Leon tops final BTCC practice session of the year

Daryl De Leon topped the times in the final British Touring Car Championship practice session of the season at Brands Hatch, finishing less than a tenth of a second ahead of reigning champion Tom Ingram.

On what proved to be an ultra-competitive session around the Grand Prix circuit, WSR’s De Leon surged to the summit of the leaderboard late on, setting a best lap of 1:28.982s in his BMW 330i M Sport.

Ingram emerged as the closest finisher to De Leon in second place, narrowly ahead of newly crowned five-time title winner Ash Sutton who was best of the rest in third. The Alliance Racing driver was a further tenth of a second in arrears to pace-setter De Leon.

Dan Rowbottom was fourth in the CPRL Mercedes-AMG A35, narrowly ahead of the soon-to-be-retired Tom Chilton who completed the top-five in his EXCELR8 Hyundai.

Hot on the heels of Chilton was Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble in sixth, who finished marginally ahead of Speedworks Motorsport driver – and initial pace-setter – Josh Cook in seventh.

Rounding out the top-ten was the second Power Maxed Racing Audi of Aiden Moffat, Dan Cammish and this year’s Jack Sears Trophy champion Dexter Patterson.

Qualifying at Brands Hatch is scheduled to begin at 13:50 BST this afternoon, prior to the Qualifying Race starting at 14:50 BST.
