Tom Ingram ‘in a good place’ going into race day

Tom Ingram says he is in a good place going into the final British Touring Car Championship race day of the season at Brands Hatch tomorrow.

The EXCELR8 driver enjoyed a strong Saturday at the Kent circuit as he went from fifth to second in a frenetic Qualifying Race around the 2.433-mile Grand Prix circuit.

Following eventual winner Aiden Moffat and withstanding late pressure from third-place man Josh Cook, the Hyundai driver remains in the box seat to clinch runners-up laurels – with his main rival Dan Cammish only managing to finish tenth.

“We went into that race not knowing where our pace would be in race trim,” said the outgoing champion. “Obviously the boost makes a difference over the course of a lap but its not until you’re racing that you really see it come into effect.

“For me it was about being aggressive on that opening lap and making the most of the fact that nobody else was on the boost on lap one. We were tactful and made some good moves to work our way up to second.

“From that point on it was about staying within touch of Aiden, although I was aware that Josh was closing in as well. All in all we’re in a good place currently and can now work towards having a strong day tomorrow.”
