Penalty points for Will Davison after Austin
Pepsi Max FPR Ford driver Will Davison has been given 25 penalty points for reckless driving after the V8 Supercars race in Austin.
The penalty was for when Davison tried to pass Craig Lowndes for 12th in the final race of the weekend, a move instead resulting in Davison crashing in to Scott McLaughlin.
“I got a run on him and as I was passing him into Turn 12 it got quite close between us and I locked the rear wheels and unfortunately hit the car in front of him. The car felt good and I had to get through the pack but I slightly miscalculated the move,” said Davison to Speedcafe.com.
Davison had a tough weekend in the US where he qualified outside the top ten, finished fourth in the first race, but then dropped to ninth in the second, 12th in the third and retired from the fourth.
Six other drivers were also given penalty points after the weekend, including Jamie Whincup, Lowndes and Fabian Coulthard for breaching the rules for the safety car restart, Tony D’Alberto for his incident with Alexandre Prémat and Todd Kelly for his contact with Prémat and Maro Engel for colliding with Tim Blanchard.
