Broc Feeney dominates final race of Tasmania weekend

Ford Mustang driver Broc Feeney dominated the third and final Supercars Championship race of the weekend at SymmonsPlains in Tasmania.

The Triple Eight driver started from pole position and was challenged into Turn 1 by Matt Payne, a challenge Feeney managed to put an end to after a couple of corners during the opening lap.

Feeney’s team-mate Will Brown made a strong start from sixth on the grid to take third position behind Payne.

Dick Johnson Racing driver Brodie Kostecki had another tough race, suffering a refueling issue during his first stop which saw him drop down to finish 12th.

Brown found himself in a tough fight with Chevrolet driver Anton De Pasquale on lap eight, with the pair making contact during several times which ended with Brown going across the grass at Turn 1 and De Pasquale getting ahead.

Feeney was on his own at the top, setting a new lap record on his way to win with a margin of more than seven seconds over Payne.

A strong pit stop strategy saw Kai Allen making his way from seventh on the grid to finish third.

De Pasquale finished fourth ahead of Brown and Jayden Ojeda who claimed his best result of the season with sixth.

Aaron Cameron finished seventh for Blanchard Racing Team ahead of the Toyota duo of Ryan Wood and Chaz Mostert while Cameron Waters rounded off the top ten.

Feeney has extended his championship lead to 90 points over Payne ahead of the next race weekend which takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway on June 20-21.
