Alex Martin and Mark Howard punished for Snetterton Race 3 crash

The stewards have convened at Knockhill and reviewed the incidents from Race 3 at Snetterton two weeks’ ago, and have concluded that both Team BKR’s Mark Howard and Team Parker Racing’s Alex Martin were at fault for the incident which saw Hunter Abbott’s Chevrolet mount the broadcasting gantry.

The stewards have seen fit to hand Alex Martin two points on his racing licence and also given the 29-year-old a formal reprimand for his part in the incident.

Team BKR’s Mark Howard was also given a verbal warning, which is the 51-year-old’s first official punishment of the season.

Alex Martin’s penalty is his second of the season, meaning his next offence will see him drop to the back of the grid under the three strikes rule.

The stewards also ruled on an incident between former champions Gordon Shedden and Jason Plato in the same race, and gave Shedden a verbal warning.

The new change to the sporting regulations implemented after Snetterton, which allows the stewards to impose a race ban instead of penalty points or a warning, has not been used in this case.
