Adam Morgan targeting big points haul after strong qualifying
Adam Morgan is setting his sights on clinching a strong haul of points at Brands Hatch today after qualifying his BMW 330e M Sport on the front row for the first of three British Touring Car Championship contests around the short Indy circuit.
The Team BMW driver featured towards the top of the times in both Q1 and Q2 segments yesterday but was pipped to pole position by team-mate Colin Turkington in the Quick Six shootout by a mere 0.050s.
Set to start the opening bout on the outside of the front row, the Lancashire racer was full of praise for West Surrey Racing.
“I’m over the moon to come away with a front-row start,” said Morgan. “It was my first time in Q3 in this new qualifying system and we managed to nail it when it mattered. We came here with the maximum amount of hybrid so I knew I had to maximise it.
“I did that and it’s brilliant, not just for me but for Colin on pole too. Everyone at the team’s done a mega job so I’m looking forward to race dat and to hopefully come home with a mega haul of points.”
Race one at the Kent circuit is scheduled to get underway at 11:50.
