TouringCarTimes has been re-developed

This is the first ever TouringCarTimes column – the place where people within the touring car racing world gets their say. We thought of no better than the founder of TouringCarTimes – Johan Meissner – to start with some words about the history of the site and what is to come!

Welcome to the twelfth year and the fifth version of TouringCarTimes!

It is with a strong sense of pride we introduce TouringCarTimes v5.0! The site has been in many different forms, started out as BTCC-Magazine, continued on to BTCCtimes that later, after merging with TouringCarNews.net at the end of 2004, developed in to its current form – TouringCarTimes.

What can we expect from version 5.0?

There has been hard work with the new site and all of us in the TouringCarTimes-team feel that v5.0 is marking a big step up! The ambition and goal for us is to increase the sophistication and depth of the site. This will be done by increasing the number of personal and exclusive articles/news stories.

What is new?

Other than the design, something that has taken many long hours of arguing between us, we have four new and important sections:

The TouringCarTimes column

This is a platform for people within the touring car racing world to get their say. Drivers, organizers, team managers, mechanics, journalists, engineers and many more are the people that we invite to write here. All subjects are welcome, no matter how controversial.

Newsletter

This is a simple but yet effective function. We will shortly, when we have built up the database, start sending out the TouringCarTimes newsletter. With this feature we offer our visitors to receive the latest Touring Car news in their mailbox just when it happens.

Drivers/Tracks section

This is a section where we will provide our visitors with a simple and easy way to access all drivers and tracks that are used in the Touring Car world. The essential facts will be there and we are continuously building up the archives.

Other series

This section will now be extended with many new series around Europe and the World. The Danish DTC series, the German Procar series, the Italian ITCC series, Australian V8 SuperCars and many more.

TouringCarTimes v5.0 is released in to a changing and perhaps unstable period of Touring Car racing. The Deutche Tourenwagen Masters is reported to be heading for new rules in 2009, something that could change the Touring Car scene drastically. The World Touring Car Championship are also reported to make major changes in the rules for the 2009 season.

The coming time will for sure be an interesting one for the Touring Car scene and make sure follow it on TouringCarTimes!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Kind regards,

Johan Meissner and the TouringCarTimes team
