Ekström predicts exciting season with frozen rules
Multiple Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters champion Mattias Ekström predicts much closer racing this year because of the frozen regulations.
“It is going to be much closer, everyone has got to fight extra hard to get that little extra from the cars,” said Ekström to TouringCarTimes.com.
The DTM organisation ITR decided to freeze the regulations for 2010 in preparations for the new regulations in 2011.
“It is going to be an exciting season as there are going to be so small differences between the cars,” said Ekström.
The Swede says that it is going to be an extra tough challenge to find those last thousands of a seconds, needed for the very top.
“The challenge is going to be to fine-tune the things you have. The only difference on the cars from last year are the tyre specifications,” said Ekström.
Ekström predicts around eight drivers for the title fight this year, included him self.
“It is not going to be easy this year, you need to stay on top at all times and have a good flow. It is going to be really close between Audi and Mercedes, but my goal is as always the title,” said Ekström.
