Lowndes and Skaife win Phillip Island Enduro

Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife shared victory at Phillip Island for TeamVodafone, as a retirement for Jamie Whincup plays into Courtney’s hands.

Jamie Whincup, along with Steve Owen, had qualified on pole position in the other TeamVodafone Holden Commodore, but on lap 92, a pass by team mate Lowndes was fortelling of the emerging on the No.1 car, retiring three laps later with an issue with their oil cooler.

Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom, sharing with Luke Youlden, finished second, whilst Team BOC celebrated their best result of the season, with Jason Richard sharing with Andrew Jones taking the final step on the podium.

Championship leader James Courtney finished back in twelfth place, but thanks to Whincup’s retirement, stretched his championship lead, but with third place Mark Winterbottom picking up 239 points from the event, it’s the rival Ford team’s results which may be his biggest cause for worry.
