Armando Parente joins Campos Racing in Portugal
Campos Racing will enter a revised line-up for the Race of Portugal in Algarve.
The Spanish team confirmed Oscar Nogués behind the wheel of one of the Opel Astra OPCs. The Spaniard had given the car its season-best result in qualifying by claiming eighth on Saturday. An accident at the start of Race 2 prevented the Nogués from trying to score his first points for Opel, as well as receiving a suspended grid penalty for the next two events.
Armando Parente will partner Nogués for the Portuguese event. The 26-years-old had a very strong career in karting in his home country, before switching to single seaters and clinching the 2008 ADAC Formula Master title in Germany. More recently, Parente competed in the Portuguese Sport and Prototypes Championship, finishing seventh.
Parente is the fourth driver to join Campos Racing in the TCR International Series after Ukraine’s Igor Skuz left the team to join WestCoast Racing and SEAT Eurocup regular Jordi Oriola focused on his main project for the year.
