Hyundai claims TCR class victory in Nürburgring 24 hours
Hyundai Motorsport claimed its sixth consecutive TCR class victory in the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hour race with drivers Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng, Manuel Lauck and Nico Bastian.
The Hyundai Elantra N TCR quartet finished one lap ahead of the Volkswagen trio of Dirk Groneck, Marco Knappmeier and Maik Knappmeier, with a total of four cars taking part in the TCR class this year.
Hyundai fielded two new Elantra N1 RP cars in the SP4T class with the new development engines, rumoured to be of the new 2.5-litre TCR specification engines – finishing third and fourth in its class.
There were several current and former touring car drivers in the race, including former WTCR racer Luca Engstler who finished second overall for Red Bull Team ABT behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.
2024 BTCC champion Jake Hill finished eleventh overall, driving a Porsche for Lionspeed GP.
Former STCC champion Johan Kristoffersson and former WTCR race winner Benjamin Leucther finished second in the SP4T class behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 24h.
Former STCC race winner Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky took part in the TCR class behind the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS, but retired from the race in the final stages.
Experienced Nürburgring racer and former FIA TCR World Tour racer Tom Coronel drove an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to 65th place overall.
