Pol Rosell wins despite oversteer issues

Pol Rosell made history today at the Red Bull Ring as it gave Volkswagen their first win in the TCR International Series. The 2014 Eurocup champion, who has won at the same track last week, says the race was perfect, despite pressure from his SEAT rivals.

“The start was perfect, and so were the first few laps, as I had a really good pace,” said the Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver. “However, later in the race the car started oversteering, and it was really difficult for me to keep the position, as both Jordi (Gené) and Pepe (Oriola) were really determined to overtake me. The oversteer was the only problem I had, though, and I don’t know if it was because of the tyre wear or tyre pressure, we will need to check.”

Talking about his recent experience at the Red Bull Ring, the Spaniard remarked his talent in making opportunities work for him: “I won the second race in the SEAT Eurocup, but again the first race had been quite difficult last week, so I probably should only focus on Race 2!”, joked Rosell.

As for the Golf’s debut, Rosell is enthusiastic about the prospects of the German brand in the series: “I was given the opportunity to take part in the race and it was fantastic to win it. I think the car has a good balance and is easy to drive, it’s similar to the SEAT as they share several components, though the bodywork is different. It is a good car, we will see it on the podium many times this year in the series, it’s great to have a new brand in the championship.”

This weekend marked Pol Rosell’s first outing in the TCR International Series.
