Davit Kajaia delighted to be “on the right track”
Davit Kajaia brought Liqui Moly Team Engstler on the podium for the first time this year, as the Georgian finished the first race at Imola, Italy, in third, behind Leopard Racing’s Stefano Comini and Craft-Bamboo Lukoil’s Pepe Oriola.
“Of course we are happy, my team did a great job,” said the reigning ETCC TC2T champion. “I think we are on the right track, and I am proud to have brought Georgia on the podium. The whole country supports me and that is fantastic.”
The Georgian is happy with his performances, as he steadily improves and learns how to deal with a front-wheel driven car: “I am improving a lot, it’s my first year with a front-wheel driven car. I think that I can close the gap step by step and improve as the season goes on. I haven’t visited many of the tracks, and it makes it all more difficult, so I am satisfied with my progress.”
Kajaia’s score in the championship is now up to 48, 22 of which he scored this weekend in Italy.
