Pit Lane Competizioni confirm Audi RS 3 LMS for Max Mugelli

Former Superstars Series race winner Max Mugelli has been announced for this year’s TCR Italy. The driver from Tuscany will be at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS, sharing the Pit Lane Competizioni garage with fellow former V8 driver Nicola Baldan.

The RS 3 LMS will be driven by Mugelli in TCR Italy and Enrico Bettera in TC Open. The move adds to an already competitive single-car line-up with semi-works SEAT driver Nicola Baldan, the pair expected to fight closely at the front.

“I can’t wait to begin this new adventure”, said Mugelli. “I am very curious to see how I will adapt to the front wheel drive of the Audi RS 3 LMS, as I’ve last raced in a front wheel driven car almost 20 years ago. I’m very happy with this choice, Audi presented the project last winter and cars are already sold out. I think that testifies the solidity of the project. I know the team well, I worked with most of them in the Superstars Series in 2013 and I know how good they are. I will also have an endurance programme this year, so my 2017 will be busy.”

Team Principal Roberto Remelli says he is very satisfied with his driver line-up, as both men are experienced and proved their speed in several different championships: “With Mugelli and Baldan we are fielding a couple of very competitive and experienced drivers”, commented Remelli. “I’m sure a professional such as Max will need very little time to adapt to a front wheel driven car and will be a protagonist from the word go. We have already worked with him and we know how talented he is.”

The TCR Italy season will kick off at Adria on May, 7th.
