Jonathan Giacon unable to start second race due to accident damage
Tecnodom’s Jonathan Giacon will not start Race 2 at Misano, after his Opel Astra TCR sustained damage in the first race of the weekend yesterday.
Being the only representative of the German manufacturer in TCR Italy, the team did not have enough spare parts to replace the pieces broken in yesterday’s contact with BF Racing’s Giuseppe Montalbano. The SEAT will instead make it to the grid, in the hands of Vincenzo Montalbano, after the team worked overnight to replace most of the front left hand of the León TCR.
Giacon and Montalbano made contact at Turn 3 as the pair fought for fourth, the collision resulting in the Opel ending up against the barriers. The SEAT driver was penalised for the incident with a two-place grid drop at Monza.
