Stefano Comini warns points almost impossible in Hungary
Championship leader Stefano Comini has said it’ll be a miracle if he scored points this weekend at the Hungaroring, after the two-time champion finished the final practice session mired down in 19th in his Comtoyou Racing Audi.
Comini’s team-mate Frédéric Vervisch was only five places further up the order, with the Belgian running weight-free on his RS 3 LMS, while Comini carries the maximum ballast of 30kg after a successful weekend last week at the Salzburgring.
The Swiss driver believes points will be difficult, and that M1RA Honda’s Roberto Colciago and the WRT Volkswagen of Jean-Karl Vernay will be able to make the most of the track which doesn’t favour the Audi.
“It’s like Zolder (TCR Benelux), we have no pace here – you have to drive the car very hard for the results,” said Comini to TouringCarTimes. “We’re also carrying 30kg even after I only scored 30 points at Salzburg, which is very hard for us.
“I will try to do a miracle, but I think it will be difficult,” he added.
“It’s very dangerous for my championship. The Volkswagen, SEAT and Honda are very strong here, it’ll be very difficult to even score points.”
