Andy Yan wins the first TCR China endurance race at Shanghai

Andy Yan completed a clean sweep for the New Faster Team at the Shanghai International Circuit, in the third race of the weekend at the inaugural round of the TCR China series, by winning Race 3.

The third race of the weekend departs from the standard sprint race format for TCR, and is more in-line with the TCR Benelux series’ qualifying long race, a one-hour race with a mandatory pit stop for a driver change, if indeed the car has two drivers.

In the case of the two New Faster Team Audis, both Andy Yan and Huang Chu Han are racing alone, and therefore drove the full hour themselves.

Yan took his second win of the weekend in the RS 3 LMS, leading by a full 43 seconds over the two Teamwork Volkswagens of Sunny Wong/Alex Fung and Paul Poon/Alex Hui respectively.

The New Faster Volkswagen Golf of Wang Hao and Larry Lin was a further half a minute behind, with the Leo 109 Racing Audi of Deng Bao Wei and Li Lin, and the HE Racing Volkswagen of Han Hui Lin and Tian Li Ying the last cars on the lead lap.

Huang Chu Han was the first driver a lap down in the Audi RS 3 LMS, followed by Hu Hao and Li Hui Wei’s Leo 109 Volkswagen, and Qi Pei Wen and Zhou Hao Wen’s AVM SEAT, with just two retirements from the 11-car entry during the race.

The next round of the TCR China series takes place with the TCR Asia Series, returning to the Shanghai International Circuit on August 27th.
