Jason Zhang and David Zhu makes it a double Teamwork Motorsport win
Teamwork Motorsport drivers Jason Zhang and David Zhu claimed one win each in the first two TCR China races of 2026 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Sunny Wong headed a Lynk & Co 1-2-3 in qualifying ahead of Zhang and Paul Poon.
But the Teamwork Motorsport trio got a slow getaway and were overtaken by Hyundai driver Li Ka Hei.
But Zhang was quick to make up ground and managed to snatch the lead from Li after a brief safety car session during the first part of the race.
Zhu started down in 12th place after failing to set a lap in the Q2 session and fought his way up to third place, making his way past Lynk & Co colleague Poon for third place towards the end of the race.
Zhang won the race by just over four seconds ahead of Li while Zhu was close to six seconds behind in third.
Wong was a distant third ahead of the Team TRC Honda duo of Euan Chan Ho Ting and Frederick Lee.
Richard Li Guang Ha started the second race from the reversed grid pole position but overtaken by Honda driver Diego Moran at the start.
Race 1 winner Zhang was forced to retire after an incident with Su Ju Ran, bringing the safety car on track.
Lynk & Co 03+ TCR driver Zhu was just as in the first race charging up through the field in the second race.
Zhu challenged Moran for the lead with four laps left of the race and managed to get past.
The race finished behind the safety car due to a late incident, handing victory to Zhu ahead of Moran and Li Guang Hua of Teamwork Motorsport.
Frederik Lee finished fourth ahead of Wong and Li Ka Hei.
Zhu heads the standings on 70 points, nine ahead of Wong and ten ahead of Li Ka Hei.
The next TCR China race takes place at Ningbo International Circuit on May 29-31.
