Rob Huff victorious on TCR China return as Martin Foo claims maiden win

Former World Touring Car champion Rob Huff made a winning return to TCR competition in the penultimate TCR China round at Chengdu, while Martin Foo Kuk Cheung claimed his maiden victory in the championship.

Huff, making his first TCR appearance since 2024, joined the Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport squad for the weekend and secured his first TCR victory in three years in the opening race.

The Briton qualified just 0.060 seconds behind team-mate Jason Zhang but made the better start to take the lead into the first corner.

Huff remained in control to claim victory by 11.2 seconds over Zhang, with Spark Racing Honda driver Sun Ju Ran completing the podium.

Championship leader David Zhu finished fourth after being involved in contact with Richard Li while fighting for third position on lap five.

Li was subsequently spun by Juan Carlos Zhu Hu An, allowing Sun to move into third place.

The second race saw Teamwork Motorsport driver Foo take his first TCR China victory, leading a Lynk & Co 1-2-3-4.

Foo started second alongside pole-sitter Paul Poon, who initially led the race in his Honda.

Zhu and Huff made strong starts from sixth and seventh respectively, moving up to third and fourth on the opening lap.

Following a safety car period, Foo moved into the lead as Poon dropped behind Zhu and Huff before eventually retiring with a technical issue.

Foo held on to win by just 0.5 seconds over championship leader Zhu, with Huff completing the podium a further 0.462 seconds behind.

Zhang finished fourth to complete the Lynk & Co domination.

Zhu heads into next weekend’s season finale at Zhejiang with 5170 points, holding an 890-point advantage over Zhang, while Sunny Wong remains mathematically in contention, 1050 points behind the leader.

A total of 1350 points remain available in the championship.
