Jason Zhang and Lian Qi claim Ningbo victories
Lynk & Co drivers Jason Zhang and Lian Qi left the TCR China race weekend at the Ningbo International Circuit with one win each.
The first race of the weekend saw Mulberry Racing Hyundai driver Li Ka Hei starting from pole position and headed the field ahead of Team TRC Honda driver Frederick Lee.
The safety car was called into action after the first lap as He Yuan and Lau Ying Kit went off.
As the race resumed, Li Ka Hei and Frederick Lee fought hard for the lead, a battle which culminated six laps from the end.
Frederick Lee went past into the lead and pushed Li Ka Hei wide in the process, a move the stewards handed Lee a five-second penalty for which dropped him from first over the finishing line to third.
Teamwork Motorsport driver Jason Zhang passed Li Ka Hei for second place three laps from the end and inherited the win of the race following Frederick Lee’s penalty.
Yang Zheng finished fourth ahead of championship leader David Zhu.
Henry Ho claimed the lead as the Race 2 started ahead of Lin Zhi Shan.
But disaster struck the leading pair as Richard Li Guang Hua struck the back of Lin Zhi Shan who then hit Henry Ho, with the latter being collected by Aaron Kwok which saw both retire from the race.
This brought out the safety car and as the race resumed, Honda driver Frederick Lee managed to snatch the lead from Paul Poon.
A second safety car session came as Sunny Wong and Richard Li clashed two laps from the end, handing the lead to Lynk & Co driver Liang Qi.
The field was released again with just one lap left which saw Liang Qi claiming his maiden TCR China win ahead of Frederick Lee and points leader David Zhu of Teamwork Motorsport.
Paul Poon came home in fourth ahead of Lynk & Co colleague Yang Zheng.
The next TCR China round takes place at Ordos on August 7-9.
