Double pole position for championship leader Andy Yan at season finale

TCR China points leader Andy Yan has secured pole position for the first two sprint races at the TCR China series season finale at the Guangdong circuit in China.

The NewFaster Team Audi driver outqualified his team-mate Huang Chu Han by almost a full second in the first qualifying session, setting a time of 1:20.301, while it was a closer fight in the second session as Yan’s best lap was slightly slower with a 1:20.398, just three-tenths of a second ahead of Teamwork Motorsport Volkswagen driver Sunny Wong.

The Teamwork drivers Wong and Alex Hui had set the pace in the two free practice sessions on Thursday, but were out of luck in qualifying. For Race 1, Wong qualified third, while Alex Hui was unable to set a time. Hui lines up third behind his team-mate for the second race.

The first race takes place at 13:50 CST today, with Race 2 and the one-hour third race both on Saturday 30th December. Yan can wrap up the title in Race 1 by just finishing ahead of team-mate Huang, as he leads the series by 51 points with 75 points available over the three races.
