TCR China duo added to Hyundai Junior programme

Hyundai Motorsport’s Customer Racing division has announced the addition of two new drivers to its Junior Driver programme in the form of TCR China duo Max Hart and Yang Xiao Wei.

The pair are team-mates in the Z Speed N line-up and lie ninth and 13th in the standings after the opening three rounds of the campaign – with round four taking place this weekend in Shanghai.

Hart and Yang are the first two drivers to compete in the Chinese series to be added to the Hyundai programme, which already includes TCR UK pair Alex Ley and Bradley Kent as well as TCR Italy duo Marco Butti and Junui Park.

The addition of the TCR China pair means drivers on the Junior Driver programme are competing in all three Hyundai TCR cars currently in action, with Hart and Yang the first to be racing the Elantra N TCR.

“TCR China has grown into a very important market for Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing and the TCR category in general,” Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Manager Andrea Cisotti said. “The growth in the grid for this season has been very impressive, as has the performance of Hyundai Elantra N TCR drivers in the field.

“Max Hart and Yang Xiao Wei have already put in excellent performances this season with the Z Speed N team, and with the additional support of the Customer Racing Junior Driver programme, I am sure we can help them build on a strong start to this year and into the future.

“Our Junior Drivers in Europe have already shown the benefits of the extra testing, support and training we provide as part of the initiative, and I see no reason our work with Max and Xiao Wei cannot be just as successful.”
