V-Action confirm single-car effort with Luigi Ferrara

V-Action confirmed they will field a single Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in TCR Italy, with former Superstars Series driver Luigi Ferrara behind the wheel.

The driver from Apulia, who had an outing in TCR Italy last year at the wheel of the Romeo Ferraris-built car at Monza, will perform a shakedown of the car next week ahead of the Imola season opener on April, 29th.

“With Ferrara we are targeting the title,” said team principal Daniele Vernuccio. “We got on well with him from the word go, he’s a great driver. The Giulietta is an extraordinary car which can challenge all the other opponents and we have a great relationship with Romeo Ferraris. We take pride in having an Italian team, driver and car, we want our national colours to be up there at the end of the season.”

Despite the high ambitions, Vernuccio is aware that winning the championship will be tough as the opposition is fierce.

“We originally wanted to field two cars. We finally resolved to focus on just one car to try to win the championship. We know it is an ambitious goal we have set ourselves, because the level of the championship is raising so much and the opponents’ level is very high.”

After a brief spell with Subaru in the TCR International Series, Ferrara took part in the season finale at Monza last year, although a first-corner incident ruled him out of contention in the second race.
