Michael Clemente confirms 2020 entry with a Honda

Michael Clemente has bought a Honda from Wall Racing to race in the 2020 TCR Australia series with his own privateer team Michael Clemente Motorsport Honda.

“The TCR Australia Series has taken off this year and the amount of support on offer from Wall Racing made the decision easy,” Clemente said.

“While the step to TCR is pretty daunting, there is lots to look forward to and I am really excited to get into the season.

“The team at the Australian Racing Group has been fantastic and have helped make the transition possible with the evaluation day at Winton. That was crucial in giving me the chance to see what the car was like.”

The 18-year-old, who claimed the 2018 Hyundai Excel title, tested one of Wall Racing’s Hondas during the evaluation day at Winton Motor Raceway in August.

Clemente has bought the Honda Civic Type-R FK8 TCR that Néstor Girolami drove during the Sandown round.

The Australian driver will be eligible for the Michelin Cup, where drivers will be competing for a test with a European TCR team.
