Ignacio Montenegro and Lucas Colombo claims pole for Interlagos endurance race
Points leader Ignacio Montenegro and co-driver Lucas Colombo claimed pole position for the TCR South America endurance race at Interlagos in Brazil.
“Honestly, we didn’t expect pole position. We thought that under normal conditions we could be at the top but not in first place. Yesterday we weren’t completely comfortable and today we had some setbacks, but we were able to pull it off and that’s worth a lot,” said Colombo.
The Squadra Martino duo got a combined lap time of 3:24.855, beating W2 Pro GP duo Galid Osman and Felipe Lapenna by three tenths of a second.
Honda drivers Juan Casella and Gaetano Di Mauro made it two Squadra Martino duos in the top three with a combined lap time of 3:25.447.
The PMO Racing Peugeot duo of Guilherme Reischl and Guilherme Salas claimed position four ahead of Toyota Team Argentina drivers Bernardo Llaver and Gaston Iansa.
Cupra León Competición drivers Raphael Reis and Jorge Barrio rounded off the top six for W2 Pro GP, 1.4 seconds from pole.
The 60-minute race, which features a mandatory pit stop with driver change, starts at 12:10 local time/17:10 CEST.
