Leonel Pernia claims Concordia pole position
Reigning champion and current points leader Leonel Pernia claimed the TCR South America pole position at the Concordia City Circuit.
The Honda Racing driver beat Hyundai MSA rival Camilo Trappa by 0.282 seconds as TCR South America made its first visit to the Argentinian circuit.
Tiago Pernia made it two Hondas in the top three, but was close to six tenths of a second adrift in third.
Juan Angel Rosso took his Paladini Racing-prepared Lynk & Co 03 TCR to fourth place, 0.644 seconds from pole, only just beating Joaquin Cafaro (Hyundai) who was just 0.005 seconds slower.
Former FIA TCR World Tour driver Néstor Girolami was sixth fastest, just 0.045 seconds slower than Cafaro, for Hyundai MSA ahead of former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr.
Fabian Yannantuoni rounded off the top eight, 1.060 seconds from pole.
The first race of the weekend starts at 10:13 local time/15:13 CEST on Sunday.
