Tiago Pernía and Raphael Reis share Concordia victories

Tiago Pernía and Raphael Reis shared the TCR South America victories at Concordia, while championship leader Leonel Pernía claimed two second places.

Leonel Pernía started the opening race from pole position ahead of Camilo Trappa and Tiago Pernía, maintaining the lead during the opening stages.

Néstor Girolami meanwhile passed Juan Ángel Rosso for fourth, with Reis following him through. Girolami was later handed a five-second penalty for contact with Rosso.

A safety car was called when Enzo Gianfratti went off into the gravel, setting up a five-minute sprint to the finish.

Leonel Pernía struggled after the restart and came under attack from Trappa, who forced the Honda driver wide at Turn 6 to take the lead.

Trappa crossed the line first but received a five-second penalty for the move, dropping him to sixth.

That promoted Tiago Pernía to his second victory of the season, 0.598 seconds ahead of his father, with Reis completing the podium.

Reis started the reversed-grid second race from pole and maintained the lead ahead of Fabián Yannantuoni.

Nelson Piquet Jr soon moved into second before another safety car was required when Nicolás Fuca stopped on circuit.

Leonel Pernía charged through the field after the restart, passing Girolami and Yannantuoni before Piquet yielded second place to his Honda team-mate.

Pernía closed on Reis during the final lap but was unable to find a way past, the Cupra driver winning by 0.755 seconds.

Piquet completed the podium in third, 4.196 seconds behind.

Leonel Pernía leaves Concordia with an increased championship lead on 398 points, 68 ahead of Reis, while Girolami is third on 292 points.

The season continues at Posadas on October 2-4.
