Rubén Fernàndez stripped of podium finish for failing technical inspection

Rubén Fernàndez was stripped of his third-place finish in TCR Italy Race 1 at Vallelunga yesterday following a post-race inspection.

The differential of the Spaniard’s Audi RS 3 LMS did not comply with the regulations and he was therefore excluded from the race.

The exclusion, which has been appealed by Auto Club RC2 Valles, elevates Denis Babuin to third place, his second podium of the season, and Michele Imberti to fourth.

Title contender Franco Girolami was handed a 1000€ fine for failing the ride height check after qualifying.

As the stewards established that the Aioka Racing driver failed the ride height check due to a “mechanical failure”, he did not receive a penalty which affected his grid position (P5).
