20 cars on joint TCR World Tour and Coppa Italia grid at Valleunga opener

20 cars will feature on the joint FIA TCR World Tour and Coppa Italia Turismo grid in the Vallelunga season opener on April 20-21.

TCR World Tour raced together with TCR Europe last season during the European rounds and while TCR Europe will race at Vallelunga next weekend as well, the series will race separately.

Instead, the local Italian series Coppa Italia Turismo will join its nine-car field with the FIA TCR World Tour at Vallelunga.

A new entry to the FIA TCR World Tour is two Audis from Volcano Motorsport for drivers John Filippi and Sami Taoufik.

Frenchman Filippi finished as runner-up in TCR Europe for Comotyou Racing last year and took part in selected TCR World Tour races for the Belgian team.

Their second entry is Moroccan driver Sami Taoufik who last raced in the 2021 TCR Europe season for Sébastien Loeb Racing, finishing ninth overall.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing confirmed its four-car entry earlier today with the same drivers as last year, including Yann Ehrlacher, Thed Björk, Ma Qing Hua and Santiago Urrutia.

BRC Hyundai unveiled its new 2024 look today as well for its three drivers Norbert Michelisz, Mikel Azcona and Néstor Girolami.

Newly formed Honda team GOAT Racing will feature two Civics this season for Esteban Guerrieri and Marco Butti for a total of eleven FIA TCR World Tour entries this year.

The season opener weekend will start on Thursday with private testing, followed by two free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and Race 3 on Sunday.
