Esteban Guerrieri right on the limit to pole: “I completely messed up my first lap”
Esteban Guerrieri started the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour season in the best possible way by claiming pole and 15 fresh points to his campaign.
“It was not easy, I completely messed up my first lap and just got one shot,” said Guerrieri to the official broadcast.
The GOAT Racing Honda driver beat Lynk & Co rival Yann Ehrlacher by just 0.072 seconds, having topped both the Q1 and Q2 session.
“We prepared the tyres in Q1, so we only had one shot for that lap it worked out, so I’m really pleased,” said Guerrieri.
“It was a very good lap time and just enough for pole, we are very close to the Lynk & Cos. I don’t remember when my last TCR World Tour pole was.
“Thank you to the team, we started the preparations for the season really late and now we are on pole position. It’s all a team effort.”
Guerrieri will start the first of three races from pole while the grid for the second race is determined through the top ten results of Race 1 reversed.
The grid for the third and final race is set through the sum of points scored in qualifying and the first two races.
