Callum Newsham makes Elantra switch for final two rounds

Callum Newsham will drive a Hyundai Elantra N TCR for the final two rounds of the TCR UK season after confirming an upgrade to the i30 N he has raced thus far in the series.

Newsham currently leads the championship standings ahead of Adam Shepherd having bagged three wins so far this season at the wheel of his JH Racing-run car.

The decision to move to an Elantra will see the model back on the grid for the first time since 2023 when Josh Files and Luke Sargeant had outings in a car run by Area Motorsport.

Files scored the sole podium so far, with a second place finish at Snetterton.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be racing our new Hyundai Elantra N TCR for the remainder of the season,” Newsha said.

“With the potential of the Elantra and the incredible team behind me, I truly believe we can fight for race wins straight away and give me the best possible opportunity of fighting for the TCR UK title.

“I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel next week and learning the car and finding its limits.”

JH Racing will continue to run the car for the former MINI CHALLENGE racer.

“We are all hugely excited here at JHRacing to announce the switch to the newest machinery that Hyundai Motorsport have to offer, and continuing our long-standing relationship with Hyundai just felt right,” team owner James Hone said.

“Seeing what the Elantra is doing around the world made our decision pretty easy,” explained James.

“Callum has shone in the i30 against arguably more refined machinery to the point where he is currently leading the championship. We are very proud to be a part of this next chapter in a next-generation car.”
