Jean-Karl Vernay rules out return for coming two TCR World Tour rounds

Jean-Karl Vernay has ruled out a return to the FIA TCR World Tour for the coming two rounds at Paul Ricard and Vila Real due to his fall injury.

“I will unfortunately not be racing this weekend and I don’t think also the next weekend in Vila Real,” said Vernay to TouringCarTimes.

The Frenchman makes his world touring car comeback with SP Competition this season and made a promising start in Misano despite limited preparations.

But a foot injury that the Cupra driver sustained at home ahead of the Valencia weekend meant that he is forced to miss three race weekends in total.

“I still walk with the sticks,” said Vernay.

“I mean, I’m recovering pretty well but it’s just a very long pattern fracture. So, that’s very unfortunate, but there are worse things in life.”

SP Competition will field two Cupras this weekend for regular driver Aurélien Comte and FFSA Championnat de France Tourisme driver Gilles Chauvin.
