Aiden Moffat claims lights-to-flag win in Brands Hatch Qualifying Race

Aiden Moffat secured the final pole position of the British Touring Car Championship after reigning supreme in the Brands Hatch GP Qualifying Race.

The Power Maxed Racing driver topped the times in qualifying and with a clear road ahead of him, the Audi A3 Saloon driver controlled proceedings to triumph ahead of Tom Ingram and Josh Cook.

Moffat made the best start of those towards the front of the field when the lights went out while behind him, his team-mate Mikey Doble was swamped heading into Paddock Hill Bend.

More action would unfold at Druids as Josh Cook out-braked himself, opening the door for Ingram, the returning Ricky Collard and newly crowned five-time champion Ash Sutton to sneak past.

Cook soon fought back however and soon got the better of Sutton a corner later at Graham Hill Bend. He then took advantage of a slide for Collard as they plunged down Paddock Hill Bend to move up to third.

From there, the top three at the front of the field ran line astern, with neither Ingram or Cook being able to get close enough to stop Moffat from claiming his first pole position since Croft 2021.

Behind them, Doble was able to recover to finish fourth after coming out on top of an almighty battle with Sutton – who dropped to 11th late on after being hit with a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits.

Collard recovered from his earlier excursion into the gravel to bag fifth ahead of Daryl De Leon, who pulled off a sublime move on the CPRL Mercedes of Dan Rowbottom through Dingle Dell and up to Sheene Curve.

Completing the top ten was Aron Taylor-Smith, this year’s Jack Sears Trophy champion Dexter Patterson and Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish.
