Aiden Moffat on pole for Brands Hatch GP Qualifying Race
Aiden Moffat will start the final British Touring Car Championship Qualifying Race of the season from pole position, after topping the times in traditional qualifying at the Kent circuit.
The Power Maxed Racing driver set the fastest lap time in Group 2, enabling him to secure a spot at the front of the grid for the upcoming 10-lap contest; which will decide the starting order for Sunday’s opening encounter.
Speedworks Motorsport’s Josh Cook led the way in Group 1 but ultimately finished a few tenths short of Moffat’s benchmark time. That therefore means that he will line up alongside the Toyota Corolla driver on the front row of the grid shortly.
As per the series’ format for this season, the group with the pole-setting lap time will occupy the odd-numbered grid positions for the Qualifying Race, while the other group occupy the even-numbered grid positions. Both are ordered by their qualifying times.
Third on the grid was Moffat’s Audi team-mate Mikey Doble, who starts one position ahead of returning EXCELR8 driver Ricky Collard. Locking out the third row of the grid directly behind them are title winners Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton.
Completing the top-ten is Dexter Patterson, Daryl De Leon, Aron Taylor-Smith and Dan Cammish.
The BTCC’s Qualifying Race from Brands Hatch is scheduled to commence at 14:50 and can be viewed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtqqs8LflOw.
