Tom Ingram doubles up at Brands Hatch GP

Tom Ingram made it two wins from two races at Brands Hatch in the British Touring Car Championship after charging to victory ahead of Josh Cook and Ash Sutton in the penultimate round of the season.

Picking up where he left off from earlier in the day, the EXCELR8 driver reigned supreme in style as he led every lap to tally his fifth win of the campaign – which in-turn was enough for him secure runners-up laurels in the Drivers’ Championship.

As Ingram streaked to victory, Cook enjoyed a relatively trouble-free drive to clinch a second successive second-place finish in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla.

The battle for the final step on the podium went down to the wire however as newly crowned five-time champion Sutton, Daryl De Leon and Mikey Doble ran bumper-to-bumper for third place.

Sutton had enjoyed a meteoric opening few laps to climb up to third, although on the medium tyre he soon came under pressure by De Leon and Doble – who were both on the much faster soft tyre.

Holding off the pair in the closing stages, Sutton was able to break clear, helped by Doble himself mounting an attack on the WSR BMW De Leon.

Drawing alongside the rear-wheel-drive machine as they plunged onto the Grand Prix circuit with a lap and a half to go, the Power Maxed Racing driver utilised his TOCA Turbo Boost to snatch fourth.

That also enabled him to secure an unassailable lead in the Independent Drivers’ Championship. Doble’s team also put themselves out of touch in the Independent Teams’ Championship.

Behind Doble, De Leon settled for fifth ahead of the Alliance Racing Ford Focus Titanium of Dan Cammish, who was able to move forward to finish sixth.

Completing the top ten was Ricky Collard, Aiden Moffat, Dexter Patterson and Sam Osborne, who is poised to retire from the championship at the end of the day.

The final race of the season is scheduled to begin at 17:15.
