Jan ”Flash” Nilsson considers STCC return

Jan ”Flash” Nilsson has tested a Saab 9-3 for Team Tidö and confirms that he is considering a return to the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
”That is right. I have driven a test car and David von Schinkel (Team Tidö team manager) isn’t doing this for fun, so there is of course an interest,” said ”Flash” to vf.se.

The double STCC champion announced his retirement after the 2012 season and has since then closed down his team Flash Engineering, instead focusing on his family.
”I have traveled around half of the world, gained weight and had fun. But now the time out is over and it is time to consider what to do next,” said ”Flash”.

”Flash” reported the test to have gone well and a decision is expected to be announced soon whether he is going to make a return.
”I got the answers I needed (during the test), I can tell you that much. I have nothing to prove, that is never why I have raced. But what is important is for me to feel like I am doing a good job. I refuse to take part to fill out the grid, I must be able to feel competitive. I’m not racing to be second,” said ”Flash”.

The 53-year-old is understood to have a standing offer from Team Tidö for the remaining three STCC races of 2014, with the next one being raced at Knutstorp on August 23rd.
”It is up to me now. I just have to feel that I am able to be competitive,” said ”Flash”.
