Fredrik Ekblom and Erik Jonsson share Knutstorp poles

Fredrik Ekblom and Erik Jonsson claimed the two pole positions ahead of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship races at Knutstorp.

Volvo Polestar Racing drivers Ekblom and Thed Björk continued to dominate in qualifying, as they had in testing, by claiming a 1-2 in both sessions.

Reigning champion Björk was fastest in the first session, meaning 25 points to the championship but also a reversed grid position eight for the first race. Team mate Ekblom was close behind, just 0.005 seconds, and beat title rival and championship leader Fredrik Larsson who was third fastest.

Mattias Andersson was fourth fastest in the first session ahead of Kia driver Linus Ohlsson in fifth and a disappointed Richard Göransson in sixth position.

Erik Jonsson is going to start from pole position in the first race thanks to the reversed grid system as he was tenth fastest in Q1 behind Andreas Wernersson who will join him on the front row.

The top two positions were changed for the Q2 session, where the top eight drivers of Q1 get a single ”Super Pole” lap to decide the grid for race two. Ekblom beat team mate Björk to pole position, with BMW driver Larsson once again third fastest.

Andersson claimed fourth position on the grid ahead of Göransson and Philip Forsman. Emma Kimiläinen was seventh fastest for PWR Racing, close to nine tenths from pole, with Linus Ohlsson in eighth.
