Fourth BMW for WestCoast Racing at Solvalla

BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing is going to field a fourth BMW in the STCC races at Solvalla this weekend for Matte Karlsson.
”It is going to be great fun trying this out and of course a huge challenge,” said Karlsson.

The 40-year old is currently taking part in the STCC support class Porsche Carrera Cup and has raced Porsches for the past five seasons.
”This is a big step up for me and there is a lot to learn, especially as I have only done one test day in the rain with the BMW. The car is not at all like the Porsche to drive, so it is a lot about how fast I can get used to it. I am not expecting to score in the very top, but if I can learn the car quickly in practice, then I won’t be left behind,” said Karlsson.

Karlsson, who started his racing career in 2010, is going to join regular WestCoast Racing drivers Fredrik Larsson, Philip Forsman and Erik Jonsson at Solvalla while the final race at Mantorp Park is yet to be confirmed.
”Matte has driven really well in Carrera Cup and is for sure fast enough for STCC. But we are realistic and we do not expect any top results. The most important thing is to make sure he gets a good STCC weekend at Solvalla,” said Team Manager Dick Jönsson-Wigroth.

Karlsson’s entry and the return of Jan ”Flash” Nilsson brings the STCC field up to 15 cars for Solvalla.
