Fredrik Larsson: ”Title fight looks grim”
Fredrik Larsson had a tough STCC weekend at Solvalla and lost vital points on title rival Thed Björk.
”This was not my weekend at all unfortunately. I lost a lot of ground in the championship and the title fight looks grim ahead of the season finale at Mantorp Park,” said Larsson.
The BMW driver was strong at Solvalla last year but could not match Björk’s pace this year and came close to ending his race weekend in qualifying.
”I made a mistake in Q2 and touched the wall. There is no one but me to blame. Without the mistake things would obviously have looked better now, but I wasn’t fast enough,” said Larsson.
The BMW driver finished fourth and fifth in the two races and dropped to 31 points behind Björk with one race weekend and 75 points left of the 2014 season.
”Second place in the championship looks secure for me, but the gap up to Thed is big. There is nothing else for me but to go to Mantorp and go flat out,” said Larsson.
