Team Kia lifts blame from drivers after disastrous result

Team Kia had an awful STCC weekend at Anderstorp where Erik Johnsson’s eighth place was their best result. Team manager Tobias Johansson emphasises that the drivers were not to be blamed.
”The drivers did their job, the team didn’t. It is as simple as that. We were completely lost in the settings,” said Johansson.

Erik Johansson inherited pole position for the second race as BMW driver Erik Jonsson failed to get out in time for the race due to technical problems. But the Kia driver quickly fell down through the field to finish eighth.

”I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t disappointed. I drove my race but we couldn’t get the settings right,” said Johansson.

Team mate Kevin Aabol had an even worse weekend, finishing tenth in both races, far behind the leaders.

”I almost thought I had slicks at the rear in the rain. It was hopeless to drive, I just drove to finish the races to save some points,” said Aabol.

Johansson has dropped to eighth in the drivers’ championship and Aabol to eleventh.
