Björk fastest in first Mantorp test as Göransson and Haglöf crash

There was drama straight away in the first test of the STCC mid-week twilight race at Mantorp Park as Richard Göransson and Daniel Haglöf crashed just a few minutes into the session.

The two collided in the final, ”new”, corner of the Mantorp Park short circuit. The contact resulted in a broken suspension for Göransson who stopped on track while Haglöf was able to take his PWR Racing Saab back into the pits on his own. Neither drivers were able to complete further laps after the incident.

Reigning champion Thed Björk was fastest in the session, lapping the two-kilometre circuit in 47.365. The Volvo Polestar Racing driver was two tenths faster than Fredrik Ekblom in second place.

Göransson was third fastest despite only completing five laps before the crash, just below five tenths of a second behind Björk.

Fredrik Larsson, who won the last race at Anderstorp, was fourth fastest, with Team Kia driver Erik Johansson in fifth position.

Local driver Mattias Andersson was sixth fastest for Dacia Dealer Team, but a full 1.202 seconds from the fastest time of the session.

The second test session starts 14:00 CET.
