Target Competition elated with TCR teams’ title for 2015

Italian-based Target Competition were delighted after wrestling the lead of the TCR International Series teams’ trophy from Craft-Bamboo Racing in the final round of the season in Macau.

Target and SEAT-equipped rivals Craft-Bamboo were neck and neck throughout the 2015 season in both the teams’ and drivers’ championships, but in the end Target came out on top in both, with Stefano Comini crowned the drivers’ champion and Target the inaugural teams’ champions.

“Sometimes Bamboo were faster, sometimes we were faster, but I think we had a good driver and a good team and every time we tried our hardest,” said co-team owner Andreas Gummerer to TouringCarTimes.

“I think it’s the passion that we have. We are not racing for money, we are racing for passion.”

The team are set to return in 2016 to defend their titles, with their plans set to be announced in a few weeks. The team are also looking to expand to other new TCR national series next year.

“We will stay in this championship, we like it very much, and we also plan to be in other championships,” said Gummerer.

“We are not sure if we will stay in the SEAT Eurocup. We may look around other national championships, with TCR Germany and TCR BeNeLux a possibility.”
