Philip Morin replaces Emma Kimiläinen at PWR Racing

Philip Morin will replace Emma Kimiläinen at the SEAT Dealer PWR Racing Team for the final two rounds of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season, starting this weekend at Solvalla.

The 20-year-old currently drives for Cirkus Karlsson Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia championship and sits second in the championship behind former STCC competitor Fredrik Larsson with two victories to his name.

“Philip has really impressed in the Porsche Carrera Cup this season and is one of the promising young drivers PWR want to look at,” said team principal and driver Daniel Haglöf. “We therefore want to give him the chance in the STCC this year to see if he could be a future name for us and SEAT.”

Morin will take over the SEAT Seón STCC which has been driven by 27-year-old Kimiläinen so far this season in a year which has been maligned by a number of racing incidents. The Finn currently sits ninth in the drivers’ standings with her best finishes a pair of sixth places at Anderstorp and Falkenberg.

“I would of course preferably driven the car myself for the last two weekends, but when the team wants to give a junior chance to finish the season in STCC so I can’t do otherwise than to accept this and wish Philip all the best,” said Kimiläinen.

“I am honoured and delighted to get the chance to run for one of the STCC series’ top teams,” said Morin. “I have never driven the car before, and I see it as a good chance to develop as a racing driver.”
