TCR confirms Balance of Performance – new Audi given heaviest ballast

The TCR International Series technical department has confirmed the Balance of Performance measures to come into effect from this weekend’s race in Georgia, with the new Audi RS 3 LMS given the heaviest penalty.

The Audi RS 3 has been given a 45kg penalty which puts the car’s weight to 1,330kg. The only driver to be competing with an Audi this weekend is two-time champion Stefano Comini, run by Comtoyou Racing.

The Opel Astra was given the second biggest penalty, signalling perhaps a surprise upturn in performance for the Kissling developed car. The two Astra TCRs of Pierre-Yves Corthals and Mat’o Homola will run with 40kg of ballast this weekend.

The Honda Civic and SEAT León TCRs have been given 30kg each, while the Volkswagen Golf GTI will again be 20kg lighter as it was last year, just running 10kg above the 1,285kg base weight.

The Alfa Romeo Giuliettas of GE-Force Racing have been given a 20kg weight break and will run at just 1,265kg, while both the Giuilietta and the Golf also get a ride height break of 10mm, running at 70mm as opposed to the standard 80mm.
