Ingall back in a Holden
The 2005 V8 Supercar Champion Russell Ingall was back in a Holden for the official V8 Supercar test day at Queensland Raceway recently.
“I started my V8 career with Holden and spent seven years driving Commodores, so I’m rapt to be back with the new Supercheap Auto Racing team.
The change has definitely reignited the fire,” said Ingall, who won two Bathurst titles with Holden in 1995 and 1997.
“The Commodore is a little different to what I’ve been used to for the past five years, but while I won a Championship driving a Falcon it required a unique technique, whereas I seem to find the Holden suits my natural driving style better.
“I’m sure there’ll be some sceptics out there, but long term they’ll see this was a smart move. Our ultimate challenge is to win the V8 Championship for Supercheap Auto and Holden.”
The Supercheap team only finished building Russell’s car in the early hours of the morning. As they arrived late at the test session Russell was only able to put a small number of laps on the car which ran with no problems and was close to the pace after just six laps. Russell finishing the day eight quickest just one second behind the fastest time set by James Courtney.
