Glenfords focused for 2008 season

Glenfords Racing rounded out the top five at yesterday’s official V8 Supercar Championship Series test day at Queensland Raceway, as the team looks set to reach new heights in the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series.
Young-gun Fabian Coulthard recorded a lap time of 1:10.9423; only 0.3542s behind the fastest time set by James Courtney.

Coulthard joins PCR in 2008 and is looking forward to driving the team’s newly-purchased Triple Eight-built Falcon at the opening round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series in Adelaide.

“We had a really successful test yesterday at Queensland Raceway and we are very happy with the lap times we recorded,” Fabian Coulthard said.

“The team decided on Wednesday that we would only use the half day and had to make the most of it while we could. There were a number of things we wanted to achieve and we were really happy with the outcome.

“This car is the best Supercar I’ve driven. It’s a proven car that had results last year, so there are no excuses this season.

“The team is fresh and we are focused on moving up the grid. We’ve spent the summer getting to know this car and we’re really looking forward to getting out there and putting everything we have into this season.”

The new chassis is teamed with a new Glenfords Racing livery featuring the familiar Glenfords Racing star and 111. The red, blue and white livery moves away from the green and yellow incorporated last season, to create a streamlined and highly recognisable outfit.

“It’s a really striking design with bold colours; there’s no chance you’ll miss us on the track,” said Team Owner, Paul Cruickshank.

With new recruit Coulthard and the team’s new Falcon, Cruickshank expects the team’s third main game season to be their best yet.

“We’re pleased with how our 2008 program has come together, this has been a really great start to the year; a real confidence booster for the team,” said Cruickshank.

“In his limited V8 Supercars campaigns so far, Fabian has displayed plenty of potential and with our new car we’re looking to make big inroads this year.”
