Bright ready for battle at the Creek

Fujitsu Racing’s Jason Bright is confident of a strong showing at the second round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Sydney Eastern Creek on March 7-9.
Bright brought his Fujitsu Racing Ford Falcon home in 10th position in race #2 at the recent Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. He is confident of an even better performance in the three race format at Eastern Creek.

“Adelaide was a pretty good start to the year for us, but we do expect a better result at Eastern Creek,” said Bright.

“We didn’t get the best out of the car in Adelaide and we also had some engine dramas in qualifying and the opening race. That set us back and we had to come from behind in race #2. Considering that we started off the back and missed all the chaos on the track, 10th place was a good result.

“Eastern Creek has been pretty good to me in the past and last year it was one of our strongest sprint rounds.

“As a team we go into the Sydney round with the Adelaide experience behind us and I’m confident that we can work much better as a group.”

Fujitsu Racing Chief Engineer Geoff Slater believes better teamwork could bring a result well inside the top-10.

“As a team we are getting better at working with each other,” said Slater.

“Adelaide was a good shakedown for the group, now we can look at working much better as a team.

“That means having the car on the pace from the outset and qualifying in the top-10. Our race pace is pretty good, but we need to give ourselves every advantage against very tough competition.”

Fujitsu Racing hits the track for practice on Friday, followed by the elimination qualifying format on Saturday. The opening 31-lap race will be held Saturday afternoon, with the final two 31-lap races on Sunday.
