Improvements expected for Marshall
Continued improvement is the goal for IRWIN Racing’s Marcus Marshall at round #2 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Eastern Creek.
Despite car-balance issues at the opening round in Adelaide, Marshall kept his head to finish the weekend in 16th place overall, including 13th place in the second race.
Eastern Creek is the start of the sprint three-race format and Marshall is fully aware that he needs to be on his game.
“Adelaide was about letting the race come to us, we will have to go for it from the outset at Eastern Creek,” said Marshall.
“We had some issues in Adelaide, but importantly we understand what needed changing and I’m really looking forward to showing better outright speed at Eastern Creek.
“Eastern Creek is a flowing circuit and I’m sure we can show our strength on that type of layout.
“We want to start the weekend on the right note with a good run in practice and carry that over to qualifying. From that point I’m sure we can grab more positions as the weekend continues.”
Race Engineer Greg Foletta has been busy overseeing improvements to the IRWIN Racing Falcon.
“The outing in Adelaide provided us valuable information on the car,” said Foletta.
“We have instigated some improvements and I’m sure we will see the benefit of these at Eastern Creek.
“Marcus did a great job in the races and brought home a car without a scratch on it. That meant the team could fully concentrate on the improvements required to go forward.”
IRWIN Racing is on track for practice on Friday, followed by the elimination qualifying format on Saturday. The opening 31-lap race will be held Saturday afternoon, with the final two 31-lap races on Sunday.
